The awards team is delighted to welcome Novate IT to the growing list of sponsors and partners for the awards.

The Bristol-based recruitment firm was founded in 2005 with the aim of providing a true recruitment ‘consultancy’ service to clients throughout the UK, Europe and the US. The company is sponsoring the Best in Health Tech award – one which truly highlights the opportunities for industry-specific excellence in the South West.

Novate IT focuses on developing close partnerships with clients, ensuring delivery of a small number of applicants but with a high “CV to interview” ratio.

Working in the heart of the digital industry, Novate IT supports employers and applicants across the South West to ensure both parties find the best possible employment match. Digital is at the core of the company’s ability to deliver services. Almost all candidate interactions start online, whether that be through the company’s own genre-breaking web platform through or active involvement in professional social-media channels.

OpenBionics is shortlisted for the award – here you can see an in-action demonstration of their work.

Novate IT’s Managing Consultant Stewart Smith, was kind enough to give us an insight in their work and their vested interest in the South West’s digital industries.

Supporting the South West’s Digital Community
As our success depends on the health of the local Digital community we feel it important to try and give something back to help it thrive, to this end we are active in the Bristol and Bath Digital Media community in a number of ways.

As well as our core service offering we are also regularly advisors to employers and job hunters who are seeking impartial advise on their next steps and we also sponsor a number of Meet-Ups, most notably the Bristol JS Group and Bristol DevOps and conferences such as the Bath Ruby Conference.

On Health Tech
Whilst companies in the digital sector are developing truly ground breaking and useful technology in a multitude of ways it is the heath-tech sector that have the power to develop solutions that can improve the lives of all. We are proud to work with health tech companies across Europe and so feel a specific and strong affinity with this award

Ultramed’s flagship program MyPreOp is also nominated in the Best in Health Tech category, as well as Software of the Year.

On the awards
An opportunity to learn more about the innovative work being developed by companies in the South West Digital Community, meeting representatives of some of the companies delivering ground breaking technology and having an opportunity to demonstrate our gratitude for being accepted as an integral part of the community by sponsoring the health tech award.

Microtest’s ground-breaking electronic patient record sharing system, Guru, is also shortlisted for the award.

On Digital in the South West
There has never been a better time for digital businesses in the South West; the Bristol & Bath area is now widely recognised as one of the UK’s main technology hubs, second only to London in terms of the number of businesses and workers. More widely innovation in the Somerset, Devon and Cornwall area is at an all-time high with the local Universities incubating a plethora of groundbreaking tech businesses.

Improved transport links to the South West have helped the global digital industry realise that businesses based away from London can be significantly more cost effective. Also through having access to an improved quality of life (by being in both rural and coastal locations) employers are able to retain a significantly more loyal work force.

We’re looking forward to seeing Novate IT and nominees OpenBionics, Microtest & Ultramed at the awards on the 27th September.
