After the huge success of the inaugural South West Digital Awards, we are delighted to announce that the Awards are returning for 2019 and nominations are now open!

For those who missed last year, the South West Digital Awards were created by Helm Squared to show recognition to the often neglected region. Encouraging and rewarding its industry-first products, exceptional development work and outstanding digital campaigns alongside a selection of innovative companies and individuals. The nominees featured businesses from the most southerly points in Cornwall to those acting as a powerhouse of creativity in Bristol and Bath.

In recognising the 27 nominees the evening started with a gourmet meal followed by an interactive panel, concluding with the announcement of the winners of each category. The awards themselves were handcrafted by Plymouth College of Art’s ‘The Agency’ and in addition to this, each recipient received a complimentary bottle of Conker Spirit Dry Gin.

The live panel starred some of the South West’s greatest innovators and specialists, who discussed the challenges and opportunities faced by digital in the region, as well as discussion points suggested by the audience. The panel was chaired by Marjon Business School Director, Dr Emily Beaumont, and featured Real Ideas Organisation CEO, Lindsey Hall, Sentinel Healthcare Strategic Director, Roland Gude, and Plymouth University Corporate Projects Manager, Rich Adams.

Taking all this into consideration, the awards are returning in October 2019 with new and improved categories, offering a greater opportunity for recognition and celebration.

After their Best Digital Campaign win, Clear B2B’s Group Account Director Sharon Smith wanted to encourage others to get involved in 2019, saying:

Yes, it takes effort to put together a really good award entry, but it’s worth it because it looks really good for you as an organisation when you’re trying to win new clients and trying to win new business.”

Discussing the experience on the night, Sharon added:

“It’s worth the effort – it’s a great opportunity to meet like-minded people that are keen to make a difference in the digital world.”
